(Effective Date: May 5, 2026)

1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 This Cookie Policy (“Policy”) explains how Karki Associates Private Limited (“Company”, “we”, “us”, “our”) uses cookies, web beacons, pixel tags, local storage, and other similar tracking technologies (collectively, “Cookies”) on our website (the “Site”).

1.2 This Policy is incorporated into our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. By using the Site, you consent to the placement and use of Cookies as described in this Policy, except where such consent is not required by applicable law.

1.3 If you do not agree to the use of Cookies in accordance with this Policy, you must either disable Cookies via your browser settings (as described in Section 6) or refrain from using the Site.

2. WHAT ARE COOKIES?

2.1 Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet, or other internet-enabled device) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, to improve user experience, and to provide information to the website owner.

2.2 Cookies may be:
(a) Session Cookies: Temporary Cookies that are erased when you close your browser;
(b) Persistent Cookies: Cookies that remain on your device for a fixed period or until you delete them.

2.3 Other tracking technologies include:
(a) Web Beacons / Pixel Tags: Small graphic images embedded in web pages or emails that help us understand user behaviour and campaign effectiveness;
(b) Local Storage: Similar to Cookies but with larger storage capacity, used to remember preferences and offline data.

3. LAWFUL BASIS FOR USING COOKIES

3.1 We use Cookies on the following legal bases:
(a) Strictly Necessary Cookies: These are essential for the operation of the Site and are used on the basis of our legitimate interest to provide a functional and secure website. No consent is required for these Cookies.
(b) All Other Cookies (Preference, Analytics, Functionality, Marketing): These Cookies require your prior, affirmative consent. We obtain such consent through a cookie consent banner or similar mechanism when you first visit the Site.

3.2 You may withdraw your consent at any time by deleting Cookies via your browser settings or by adjusting your cookie preferences on the Site (if such a tool is provided).

4. TYPES OF COOKIES WE USE

4.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies: These Cookies are essential for the Site to function properly. They enable basic features such as page navigation, security, load balancing, and accessibility. Without these Cookies, the Site cannot operate correctly. Examples: Session identifiers, authentication tokens, security anti-forgery tokens, cookie consent preference. Retention: Session or up to 24 hours, except for consent preference (usually 12 months).

4.2 Preference Cookies: These Cookies allow the Site to remember choices you make (such as language preference, region, or font size) to provide a more personalised experience. Examples: Language selection, display settings. Retention: Up to 12 months or until you clear your browser cache.

4.3 Analytics / Performance Cookies: These Cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Site by collecting and reporting anonymous information. We use this data to improve the Site’s performance, content, and user experience. We may use third-party services such as Google Analytics. Examples: Google Analytics (_ga, _gid), page visit counts, bounce rate tracking, time on site. Retention: Typically 14 months for Google Analytics; see service provider’s policy. Data collected: Aggregated and anonymised – no personally identifiable information is shared unless you provide it separately.

4.4 Functionality Cookies: These Cookies enable enhanced features, such as remembering form submissions, chat session continuity, or video player preferences. Examples: Remembering partially completed forms, chat widget session. Retention: Session or up to 30 days.

4.5 Marketing / Targeting Cookies (Not currently used, but disclosed for transparency): We do not currently serve third-party advertisements on the Site. However, if we implement marketing cookies in the future, we will obtain your explicit consent before placing them. Such cookies would track your browsing habits to deliver relevant advertisements.

5. THIRD-PARTY COOKIES

5.1 We may allow selected third-party service providers to place Cookies on your device for analytics, performance monitoring, or functionality purposes. These third parties include:
(a) Google LLC (Google Analytics) to analyse Site traffic and user behaviour. Google’s privacy policy and cookie policy apply;
(b) Hosting and security service providers who may use Cookies for security and performance monitoring.

5.2 These third parties have their own privacy and cookie policies, and we do not control the placement or use of third-party Cookies. You should review the relevant third-party policies for more information.

5.3 A list of specific third-party Cookies, their purposes, retention periods, and opt-out mechanisms are available in our detailed Cookie Schedule (available upon request or through our cookie consent tool).
